Multifragmentation with Indra@gsi: from the Fermi to the Participant-spectator Domain
نویسندگان
چکیده
With INDRA at GSI, multifragmentation was studied in 197Au + 197Au reactions at bombarding energies 40 to 150 MeV per nucleon. The mechanisms of fragment production at mid-rapidity in peripheral collisions and the interplay of collective motion and fragmentation in central collisions were investigated. The balance energy for squeeze-out, i.e. the transition energy from in-plane to out-of-plane enhancement of the particle and fragment emissions is determined as a function of the impact parameter.

Spectator Fragmentation Induced by Relativistic
In 1998 and 1999, a series of experiments[1] was conducted at the GSI with the INDRA multidetector [2], using high-energy beams from the heavy-ion synchrotron SIS. A part of them was devoted to asymmetric systems like C+Au and C+Sn at bombarding energies ranging from 95 to 1800 AMeV. High resolution at backward angles, dominated by emissions from the target spectator, was achieved with the Si-S...
متن کاملIsotopic effects in multifragmentation and the nuclear equation of state
Isotopic effects in spectator fragmentations following heavy-ion collisions at relativistic energies are investigated using data from recent exclusive experiments with SIS beams at GSI. Reactions of C on Sn at incident energies 300 and 600 MeV per nucleon were studied with the INDRA multidetector while the fragmentation of stable Sn and radioactive Sn and La projectiles was studied with the ALA...
متن کاملProduction of Hot Nuclei in Fermi Energy Domain: from Peripheral to Central Collisions
The production mechanism of highly excited nuclei in the Fermi energy domain is investigated. A phenomenological approach, based on the exciton model, is used for the description of pre-equilibrium emission. A model of deep inelastic transfer is employed for the peripheral collisions in the post-pre-equilibrium stage. An approach to describe more central collisions is proposed. A geometric over...
متن کاملStatistical Multifragmentation of Non-Spherical Sources in Au+Au
From the results of previous INDRA campaigns at GANIL, it is known that central collisions of heavy symmetric systems lead to the formation of a heavy, hot and expanding composite nucleus. The break-up properties have been successfully reproduced within standard statistical approaches [1-3], except for pronounced anisotropies in the fragment yields and kinetic energies. This has motivated the e...

A production mechanism of highly excited nuclei formed in violent collisions in the Fermi energy domain is investigated. The collision of two nuclei is decomposed into several stages which are treated separately. Simplified exciton concept is used for the description of pre-equilibrium emission. A modified spectator-participant scenario is used where motion along classical Coulomb trajectories ...
